Tydeus, father of the Achaian commander Diomedes, lived in Pleuron and Kalydon before moving south to Argos.
Prior to the Trojan War, Nestor of Pylos defeated Angkaios of Pleuron in the wrestling competition in the athletic competitions at the funeral games in honor of King Amaryngkeus of Elis.
