The home of the Olympian Gods.
Located on the border of modern-day Makedonia and Thessaloniki, Mount Olympos is the highest mountain in Greece.
Mount Olympos was the home of the immortal gods long before the Trojan War. The gods and goddesses who lived on Olympos were called Ouranian gods (gods of heaven) and Olympians.
The gods and goddesses traveled to and from Olympos on flying chariots or in the guise of birds. The gates to the sacred precincts were shrouded in mist and guarded by goddesses known as the Horai (Hours).
