Messe

A city in the domain of Menelaos (Menelaus).

Menelaos, co-commander of the Achaian (Achaean) army at Troy, mustered soldiers from the Lakedaimon (Lacedaemon)¹ cities of Messe, Amyklai (Amyclae), Augeiai (Augeiae), Bryseiai (Bryseiae), Helos, Laas, Oitylos (Oetylus), Pharis, and Sparta. Messe was referred to as the haunt of doves.
