Imbros

An island in the Aigean (Aegean) Sea, northwest of Troy.

During the Trojan War, Poseidon, lord of the sea, plunged his chariot into the sea midway between the islands of Imbros and Tenedos to tether his horses in a cave while he went to the Achaian (Achaean) encampment. The proximity of Imbros to Troy made it convenient for the Achaians to sell captured Trojans to Eetion, lord of Imbros.

Imbros now belongs to Turkey and is called Gökçeada.
