Gonoessa

A city in the domain of Agamemnon.

  Agamemnon, commander-in-chief of the Achaian (Achaean) army at Troy, mustered troops from throughout the Aigialos (Aegialus),1 including the cities of Gonoessa, Aigion (Aegium), Araithyrea (Araethyrea), Helike (Helice), Hyperesia, Kleonai (Cleonae), Korinth (Corinth), Mycenae (Mykenai), Orneiai (Orneae), Pellene, and Sikyon (Sicyon).

  Gonoessa was referred to as steep and perched on hills.

1. The Aigialos once encompassed all the land that came to be known as Achaia (Achaea).
