Chalkis2
Chalcis

A settlement and river on the western coast of the Peloponnesian Peninsula.

In the Odyssey by Homer, Chalkis is mentioned as a landmark on the western coast of the Peloponnesian Peninsula as Telemachos (Telemachus) sails from Pylos towards his home on the island of Ithaka (Ithaca). Homer gives no details about Krouni (Cruni) but the geographer Strabo (first century BCE) says Krouni was a spring near a settlement and river with beautiful streams named Chalkis.

The only clue as to the location of the Chalkis or Krouni is that they are somewhere on the western coast of the Peloponnesian Peninsula south of Pheia (Pheae).
