An island in the southern Aigean (Aegean) Sea.
Amorgos is a Greek island in the Cyclades group, i.e. one of the islands surrounding the sacred island of Delos. The geographer Strabo (first century BCE) included Amorgos as one of the Sporades,1 which seems like a mistake.
1. Sporades means '"scattered"—Strabo is referring to the southern Sporades, which are grouped off the western coast of Asia Minor and also referred to as the Dodecanese (12 islands).
