The Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sunium

Cape Sunium
This is the view of the temple ruins when climbing the hill from the northeast. The stark, bleached remains are not representative of what the temple once looked like. This was a place where Poseidon once resided and was probably brightly painted and surrounded by greenery. Climbing to the temple from this direction does not prepare you for the sheer precipice that is just on the other side of the structure. (June 2005)
