Modern Athens

I visited Athens in June 2005 and September 2006 ... it is a large and sprawling city nestled between the sea and the mountains. I really did not know what to expect but I was in no way disappointed by the city or the people. Most Athenians speak English but it seems to be appreciated if you at least try to speak Greek ... I fumbled through more than a few conversations that I’m sure amused the natives but they took me for a good natured tourist and did their best to make me feel welcome. I plan to return in 2007 and I hope to see you there!
